How much does family mediation cost

How much does family mediation cost?

The family finances can come under real pressure following a relationship breakdown. The cost of Family Mediation can be a cheaper, more affordable and easier way to resolve the issues.

  • Our charges are £120.00 (no VAT) per hour per person. Mediation sessions are usually 1½ hours and therefore a session should cost £180.00 (no VAT) each.
  • You will receive a summary outcome letter after each session as part of the cost. You will not be charged extra for this letter.
  • Your mediator may prepare documents for you between sessions to help the process move forward. Typically, this might include an Open Financial Statement, the cost of which will be £120.00 (no VAT).
  • We do not offer Legal Aid funding. If you receive a state benefit, like Universal Credit for example, you might qualify for Legal Aid. If we think you might qualify, we will put you in touch with a separate provider of mediation services that offers Legal Aid funding.
  • If your mediation will include discussing child arrangements, we can explore with you the possibility of accessing the MOJ Mediation Voucher Scheme. This is a scheme (currently in place until 2025) designed to support families who may be able to resolve their family law disputes outside of court by providing a one-off contribution of £500 towards joint mediation sessions (i.e. not the assessment meeting).
  • We do not offer Legal Aid funding. If you receive a state benefit, like Universal Credit for example, you might qualify for Legal Aid. If we think you might qualify, we will put you in touch with a separate provider of mediation services that offers Legal Aid funding. Your mediation may continue as a co-mediation where we would stay involved in your case.
